A simple bar of soap blossom into a stunning lily, sparkling with shimmering diamonds! Dive into the magic of soap carving and let your imagination bloom. ✨
Carving a lily flower out of soap is a lovely beginner project that involves a few simple techniques to create petals and texture. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you carve a lily flower from soap:
Materials Needed
Soft soap bar (Ivory or Dove recommended)
Tools: Cutter and pottery tools or any suitable tools for carving
Decorative materials: Dimonds, pearls
Glue
Paper and pencil
Step 1: Create a Stencil
Start with a dry bar of soap. Avoid moistening it, as water can make it soft and crumbly.
Take a paper of the size of soap. Draw an outline of a lily flower with petals around a center point. Cut the outer area and create the stencil
Place the paper stencil on the soap and draw the flower with the sharp pointed tool.
Step 2: Carve the Basic Petal Shapes
For carving, use the tools such as cutter, pottery tools, potato piller, toothpick etc
Gently remove the soap around the petals, carving about a quarter inch down around the shape of each petal.
Focus on rounding the edges of each petal to give them a curved, natural shape.
Step 3: Add Depth to the Center
Using the tip of your knife or a cutter, carve a small indentation in the center of the flower. This will be the lily’s pistil and stamen area.
Slightly deepen this center area without going too deep into the soap.
Step 4: Shape the Petals
Thin out each petal gradually by carving away from the edges toward the center. The outer edge of each petal should be a bit thicker than the inner edges.
Create a slight upward curve on the petal tips by carving the soap around the edges gently. This will make the petals look more lifelike.
Add a texture to the petals. Use the tip of a toothpick or the edge of a knife to make fine lines from the base of each petal toward the edge. These lines mimic the veins of a lily petal.
Step 5: Define the Center of the Flower
In the small indentation at the center, use a skewer to make tiny dots or short lines to represent the stamens and pistil.
You can also create tiny raised dots around the center using a carving tool, giving it a more realistic look.
Step 6: Embellish with Diamonds
In the center, place a big diamond with the glue.
With pointed tool make tinly oles on the petals for the diamonds. Apply little water in the hole and place the diamond in it. It will stick with the soap when it dry. Similarly, decorate the lily petal with various colours of diamonds.
In the bottom around the flower stick pearls and leaf embellishments.
Your lily flower soap carving is complete! Place it in a glass box or somewhere it doesn't get in contact with water.
