One Window, Three Genres

Make one familiar view feel like three different stories.

Three photos of the same garden view sit on a sunlit windowsill, framed differently and titled “A New Beginning,” “The Missing Key,” and “Beyond the Gate.” A hand holds a phone aimed through the window.

Time: 15–25 minutes

Use a comfortable position by a window. Framing and titles do the storytelling; you do not need filters or editing software.

What you need

Try this idea

  1. Choose a view you can photograph comfortably without leaning or reaching.
  2. Take a mystery version by framing a partial shape or a little empty space.
  3. Take a comedy version by noticing an odd pairing, then a quiet science-fiction version by emphasizing a reflection or unfamiliar shape.
  4. Give each photo a short title and compare how the story changed.

A smaller version

Take one photograph and give it two different titles.

A good place to stop

One photo with three alternative titles is also a complete set.

Make it work for you

Rest the device on a stable surface. Reuse one photo and change only the titles if handling it is tiring.

Another way in

Try romance, adventure, and documentary instead.
