The founder story

DIYvinci started with a question: what if creativity worked with you instead of asking you to push through?

Jen Parr spent years navigating creative, educational, and professional systems that didn’t make much sense for the way her brain worked.

She was later diagnosed as autistic, along with ADHD, dyslexia, and dyspraxia, while also living with chronic illness.

Creativity was different. It gave her somewhere to put the intensity, curiosity, pattern-spotting, tangents, and ideas that didn’t always fit neatly elsewhere.

In 2016, Jen started DIYvinci. What began as a creative business gradually became a platform for people who still want creativity in their lives but can’t always access it through traditional advice about discipline, consistency, productivity, or talent.

There should be more than one way into the creative process.

Entrepreneurship

Building a business around variable capacity

What does entrepreneurship look like when energy, focus, executive function, or physical capacity can change from day to day?

Neurodivergence

Late diagnosis and rebuilding your understanding of yourself

How adult diagnosis can rewrite years of assumptions about work, creativity, identity, and what support actually looks like.

Creative practice

Why “just be consistent” doesn’t work for everyone

A look at what creative practice can become when stable energy, predictable attention, and easy task initiation are not assumed.

Wellbeing

Creativity as regulation and reconnection

Creativity as a way to slow down, externalize what’s happening internally, shift attention, process experience, and reconnect with yourself.

Accessibility

Designing creative spaces for the edges

What changes when you design first for low energy, shaky hands, executive dysfunction, sensory needs, or limited time?

Business

The anti-hustle creative business

What it looks like to build products, community, memberships, and marketing without treating constant output as the price of admission.

Approved short bio

Jen Parr is the founder of DIYvinci, a creative wellbeing company built around more flexible and accessible ways of creating. A late-diagnosed autistic entrepreneur with ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, and chronic illness, Jen created DIYvinci after years of experiencing how poorly traditional creative and professional systems can fit people with different brains, bodies, and levels of capacity. Her work focuses on adaptive creativity, creative wellbeing, neurodivergence, and building creative spaces where people don’t have to earn their way in through productivity or perfection.
