Two Halves of a Paint Surprise
Fold wet paint into a mirrored abstract print.

Time: 15–25 minutes, plus drying
Use sturdy foldable paper, a small amount of washable water-based paint that can be dispensed directly, and a washable or protected work surface. Keep cleanup materials nearby; drying time is extra.
What you need
- paper
- paint
- washable or protected work surface
- cleanup cloth
Try this idea
- Fold the paper in half and reopen it on your prepared surface.
- Dispense two or three small drops of paint onto one half, away from the edges.
- Close the paper and press gently with a flat hand, then reopen it to reveal the mirrored marks.
- Leave the paper flat to dry and clean your work area.
A smaller version
Use a single small paint drop.
A good place to stop
One opened print is complete; it does not need to resemble anything.
Make it work for you
Press lightly without rubbing. Ask someone to dispense paint or open the fold if gripping is uncomfortable.
Another way in
When dry, compare the print upright and upside down without adding details.
