Make it

Use long, soft scrap strips already cut, or a narrow fabric scarf. No cutting or permanent fastening is required.

  1. 1

Choose one soft strip with enough length to handle comfortably.

  2. 2

Cross one end over the other, pass it through the opening, and leave the resulting knot loose.

  3. 3

Turn it and notice the folds. Untie it, try a looser version, and stop with a shape you like.

Short on energy? Fold the strip into a loop without tying it.

A good place to stop: One loose knot that you have explored is enough.

Make it work for you: Use wide, soft fabric and avoid pulling tight. This involves gripping and is not a gentle-hands activity; arranging a loose loop is an alternative.

Another route: Arrange two untied strips so their folds overlap.
