A postcard beside unfinished floral embroidery reads, “Still here. I have a few surprises left. Come visit when you feel like it.” Lavender thread and a teal pen rest on the sunlit wooden table.

A Postcard from Your Unfinished Project

Let an unfinished project send you a friendly three-line postcard.

  • 5–15 minutes
  • No setup
  • Easy to pause
  • Seated friendly
  • No cleanup
  • Very low effort

What you need

Choose a project you feel curious about, not one you feel obliged to rescue. This is an invitation, not a promise to finish.

  • paper
  • pen

Make it

Choose a project you feel curious about, not one you feel obliged to rescue. This is an invitation, not a promise to finish.

  1. 1

Write in the project's voice: Here is one thing I like about myself. Name a detail you genuinely enjoy.

  2. 2

Add: Here is what I am waiting for. It might be a color choice, one stitch, or simply another day.

  3. 3

Finish: The tiniest thing we could try is... Choose a step small enough to picture, without needing to do it now.

Short on energy? Write only one thing you still like about the project.

A good place to stop: Three lines are enough; no project work is required today.

Make it work for you: Speak the lines or use dictation. Choose a fictional project if a real one feels loaded.

Another route: Write a reply that gives the project permission to change direction.
