Make it

Choose lightweight, non-fragile objects already within reach. They will go back when your café closes.

  1. 1

Choose three objects whose colors you enjoy together and place them side by side.

  2. 2

Imagine a café using those colors. Decide which is the main color and which is a small accent.

  3. 3

Name the café and invent one peculiar menu item, then return the objects when you are ready.

Short on energy? Use two objects, or just notice their colors without moving them.

A good place to stop: Your café has three colors, a name, and one menu item.

Make it work for you: Avoid lifting anything awkward. You can select objects by sight and keep them in place.

Another route: Make the palette for a bookshop or a moon hotel.
