Art in Maps:
I’ve always found maps to be both intriguing and inherently artistic. The contours of the map convey profound narratives. Inspired by the map of India I have created many paintings. These painting expresses the events, celebrations and culture of India. Personally, I perceive the map of India not merely a geographical outlines but as a personified entity. These perception inspired me to depict the divine presence of Goddess Bharati, the soul of India. She is wearing the necklace of Himalaya mountain ranges. The crown of the beautiful Kashmir. Its a representation of reverence, connecting the physical land to its spiritual essence. Interestingly, India’s ancient name, ‘Jambudweep’ means the shape of the land resembles to a black plum (Jamun) tree. It is a poetic symmetry between nature and cartography.

To make the art in map painting:
Step 1: You need the blank map of the your country printed on a good quality paper.
Step 2: study the map and try to visualise its resemblance which any natural thing in a positive way. One can also paint the festivals and any good events or latest celebrations happening in the country.
Step 3: Draw with pencil. Paint it with acrylic or water colors. Leave the background black or plane to emphasis on the map.
